Kenmore District Kindy donates resources to KSS Prep students
Kenmore District Kindergarten and Preschool’s ties with Kenmore State School were strengthened last week when the kindergarten donated books and puzzles to the school’s prep classes.
According to Mrs Lyndall Hind, Director of Kenmore District Kindergarten and Preschool, theirs is the only kindergarten in the area that participates in a school transition program with Kenmore State School, enabling children entering school to make a positive transition to the school environment.
“We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Kenmore State School through the transition program, which includes children being linked to a buddy from the school, visits to the school library and tuckshop and preparation for what they and their parents or carers can expect when they start school,” she said.
“Being located so close to the school makes organising visits quite easy and although not all of our graduates go on to attend Kenmore State, they can apply what they experience to their particular school transition”.
Mr Garry Drummond, Kenmore State School’s new Principal, echoes these sentiments.
“We are thrilled to be involved in this wonderful transition program and will continue to support it by encouraging pre-prep visits and making our prep teachers available to parents and kindergarten staff to provide information and advice,” he said.
“The donation of books and puzzles for our prep room is very much appreciated and these items will be put to great use by our prep students and staff”.
Kenmore District Kindergarten and Preschool is affiliated with the C & K Association and is located at 1076 Moggill Road, Kenmore. For more information please phone the Centre on 33782068.
